One of the biggest mistakes people make when planning their vacation is failing to check the accommodation’s availability from the offset. Nine times out of ten this ends in inevitable disappointment. You spend hours and hours searching through different hotels and holiday rentals until you find one that fits the bill. You get excited by the facilities on offer and the reviews that have been left by previous customers. However, you go to book your stay and the accommodation is full up. What? You have booked enough in advance so you think. Plus, you are planning on going on holiday in March. What really goes on in March? You aren’t even looking to stay on a weekend either. How can it possibly be booked?
Well, more and more people are looking to book in advance at the moment. Gone are the days whereby you would leave booking your holiday until literally the last minute so you could take advantage of the best deals. It seems that the longer you leave it the more expensive holidays become – this is especially in relation to the accommodation. Thus you will find that most people look to book their accommodation approximately a year before they go away or at least six months beforehand. If you leave booking your hotel or holiday rental until the last minute you may find out that you have missed out on all of the spaces. It can be extremely frustrating but you run this risk if you are prepared to leave it until the wire.
Nevertheless, you may not be someone who leaves things until the last minute yet you still may be experiencing the frustration of no availability. Well, you do have busy periods. When dealing with the UK winter can be busy because people like to come over for Christmas shopping or the after-Christmas sales. Summer is a busy period no matter what because the children are off school and this is when most people tend to seek a vacation. However, as the title of this article states; you need to check the availability no matter what season it is. You may think having a little break in March or October for instance wouldn’t cause too much trouble. However, you never know what events may be ongoing. There may be a huge business trade show. The city you are considering may have a festival going on during that period. Or, there could be a huge megastar in town. You will find it almost impossible to get accommodation if Rihanna or Justin Timberlake is performing in one of the big venues. All of the surrounding hotels and holiday homes will be fully booked well in advance.
This shows you that the first thing you need to do is check availability before you allow yourself to fall in love with a certain type of accommodation and indeed possibly waste your time seeing what it has to offer. We all tend to assume that there is always going to be availabilities – unless one is looking to go away during a well-known busy period. However, there could be reasons unbeknown to you why a certain area or hotel is full to the brim and you certainly don’t want your holiday to suffer because of this.
